Habrotrocha sp. 5 cf (Habrotrocha bidens)
Habrotrocha sp.5 cf bidens dorsal view, whirling.(1)

Habrotrocha sp.5 cf bidens; anterior part of 2 specimens from (1), dorsoventral view. Left: optical median section, focal plane on the slightly notched upper lip which seems to have a separating membrane in the middle (both traits are different from the descriptions of GOSSE (1851) and DONNER (1956)). Corona width ≥ head width.

Right: optical median section, focal plane (more ventral) on a membrane in the sulcus (marked by 2 arrowheads) which is not mentioned for H. bidens by GOSSE (1851) and DONNER (1956). The two arrows mark the anterior margin of the upper lip. (1)

Habrotrocha sp.5 cf bidens; creeping specimen, dorsoventral view. (1)

Habrotrocha sp.5 cf bidens; foot with spurs and (extended) dorsal toe is in focus. (1)

Habrotrocha sp.5 cf bidens; ramate trophi; semi-mecerated with SDS. Left: (cephailc view), dental formula (DF): 2/2; right: caudal view; ramus length (RaL): 22µm. Images not to scale. (2)

DONNER (165) mentions that this species is: "sehr variabel", a statement that suggests that there maybe several species that are called "H. tripus"; So future descriptions have to be more precise.
